The BLM TRails Project

Through partnership and philanthropic leadership, this community-centered BLM Trails Project will strengthen the health, connectivity, and outdoor culture of the Teton Region. This multi-use network of natural-surface single track trails will provide lasting, inclusive access for mountain bikers, hikers, and equestrians, while safeguarding access to public lands and open spaces. Guided by contemporary trail design and management practices, this project will create an engaging, sustainable trail system in Victor, Idaho.

In 2015, inspired by the prospect of a revised BLM Travel Management Plan, MBT built the AJ Linnell Memorial Trail to secure meaningful public access to BLM lands through two private easements, minutes from downtown Victor, Idaho. Finally approved in 2024, the Upper East Snake Office BLM Travel Management Plan designated more than seven miles of trail routes in this area as ‘non-motorized and open to e-bikes’, accessed via the AJ Linnell Memorial Trail. With strong momentum behind the project, a 10-acre parcel of land was secured in Fox Creek, providing a future access point and unlocking up to 12 additional miles of trail.

The outcomes of the Travel Management Plan are finally taking shape, highlighting just how much persistence is required to deliver trails for our community.

Next steps:

  • BLM Approval of new trail alignments

  • Finalize MOU agreements with the BLM

  • Secure additional funding for Phase 1-3

Thanks to the AJ Linnell Trail Fund and Family for supporting this project.
